Normally, your brain sends electrical messages to your muscles, causing them to contract and move. Electrical messages are delivered to the muscles through a substance called acetylcholine. Botox® blocks the release of acetylcholine, which prevents muscles from receiving contraction messages.

This means that muscle spasms or movements that cause wrinkles are stopped or greatly reduced after using Botox®.

Patients sometimes describe the effects of injections on their treated areas as being temporarily “paralyzed.”

Where can Botox® be injected?

forehead wrinkles

The forehead muscles are constantly under stress. This makes them one of the first facial features to show signs of aging. Because they are difficult to hide, they are one of the most common areas for Botox®. Treating forehead wrinkles with Botox® is quick, easy and requires no anesthesia. Its effects can last up to 6 months.

crow’s feet

When you laugh or smile, these tiny lines extend from the corners of your eyes. Botox® injections are very effective in improving your appearance and making you look younger.

Puppet lines and mouth corners

These lines run from the corners of the mouth to the chin. Some people also have problems with drooping mouths. Botox® treatment helps address both of these issues.

wrinkles on forehead

The lines that appear between the eyebrows on the forehead when frowning are called frowns. These lines often make you look tired, upset, or angry. Botox® reduces the depth of these lines.

smoking line

They are also called perioral lines. You don’t have to be a smoker to have smoker lines on your face. A small amount of Botox® can treat those fine lines that appear when you pout your lips.

neckband

When the platysma begins to relax, a neck girdle or neckband occurs. After the injection of Botox®, these muscles are caused to relax and the appearance of the neck ligaments becomes less noticeable. Botox® for the neck also relaxes the jaw muscles and gives your neck a lift.

drooping eyebrows

If you’re looking for a brow lift but don’t want to go the surgical route, Botox® works great for you. By relaxing the muscles that pull the brows, Botox® instantly lifts the brows.
