Dr. Shahram has performed numerous successful rhinoplasty procedures. Here are some common nose problems that can be treated with rhinoplasty:
CROOKED NOSE
A curved or twisted nose is a nose that is not straight and is located in the center of the face. The degree of bending can vary; in the worst case, it can cause breathing problems. Whether the underlying cause is medical, physical, or genetic, septoplasty can help correct their appearance.
THE NOSE IS OVER- OR UNDER-PROJECTED
Under-protruding noses appear flat, pinched or droopy, and sometimes appear smaller. An overly protruding nose is the exact opposite, often looking pointed compared to other features – and bigger than it should be. These types of nose problems are treated by adjusting the bridge and tip of the nose to create a more natural, proportioned appearance.
ROUNDED NOSE TIPS
As the name suggests, the nose here has a rounded, bulbous or spherical tip, which can make the nose appear too large for the face. Corrections may include cartilage grafts, repositioning of the side feet, or reshaping the nose tip cartilage with small sutures to make it appear smaller and thinner.
HUMP NOSE
This type of nose looks mostly “normal” in most cases, but has a bulge on the bridge of the nose due to excess cartilage and bone underneath. Rhinoplasty involves flattening the hump to reduce its size. It’s like flattening the top of an egg. Then the eggs are opened. To bring the open top of the nose together, the bones must be broken to bring their edges together. In some cases, a dilator graft may be needed to support the area of cartilage in the nose where the lump was removed.
