FAQs

Swelling and bruising usually peak around days two and three, with bruising gradually shifting from blue to yellow before fading. Most visible swelling and bruising improve significantly within the first couple of weeks, though subtler internal swelling — especially around the nasal tip — can persist for months. Morning swelling is common throughout early recovery and often responds well to gentle nose taping at night.

Light walking is fine from the very first days, but strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least four weeks, and contact sports for six weeks. From around two months, moderate strength training and swimming are typically safe, with fuller activity levels gradually resuming over months four to six. Always avoid any direct impact to the nose during this entire period.

Sleeping with your head elevated for the first week, avoiding hot baths or spicy food for two weeks, and steering clear of glasses for six weeks (contacts are a good alternative) all support smoother healing. A nutrient-rich, anti-inflammatory diet, minimal salt and alcohol, and consistent SPF 50 sun protection also play an important role. Sleeping on your side is generally fine after two weeks, though stomach sleeping should wait until around six months.

While most major swelling resolves within the first couple of months, subtle refinement continues for much longer. Full, final results typically aren't visible until somewhere between 6 and 12 months after surgery, as internal tissues fully settle and residual tip swelling gradually resolves. Patience during this later stage is especially important, since the nose can continue to change subtly well after you feel fully recovered.
